Winter Cross Ride

Today was another freezing cold day. Snowed last night so I thought it would be a great day to take the cross bike out to the trails. It was a blast. I was the only one out there. It is amazing how quite the woods are in the winter. The only thing you can hear is the creaking of frozen trees and the woodpeckers breaking there beaks off on the frozen trees. Even on the coldest days you can sweat riding the trails. The trees just shelter the wind so well.

Frozen Bridge

Backside of the Dam

Me looking all goofy.

Just a cool frozen water fall.

NO SCHOOL!!!

Today is one of those amazing days when you get a day off of school. It seems like I got way more days off in high school than I do in college. We never get school off. Nothing better than a 3 day weekend. To our dismay the weather was miserable this weekend. Isaac and I managed to get out for an hour on Saturday in the whopping 10 degree weather. I just couldn't do it yesterday when weather.com said it was only 4 degrees out. Took Sunday off so I am going to go for a nice ride today. Training is going well. I find my self slacking every once in a while but it is just that time of year. It is hard to get motivated to train when it is under 20 outside and you have a trainer that is 8 years old and is basically impossible to do half your workouts on. Oh well. warm weather is just around the corner.

Lets see what else. Bikes are finally ordered and they should be here this week. I can't tell you how excited I am for my new specialized. They should be very sweet. I am trying to sell my Dura Ace SRM because I want a Sram one for the new bike because I will be running Rival/Force on it. Something about miss matching a component group is just not cool to me. Must be consistent throughout. So if you know anyone who is interested let me know. Only 33 Days until my first race!!

The New Wagon!

Anyone say HUDZ!!!

Finally put the Cranks on.

end to a long week.....

The week is finally over. This school stuff it really taken a toll. I am very tired. Ride was sweet today on my bike. I finally got around to putting on the Sram red crank and cassette. It looks awesome. Tomorrow looks nasty. High of 15. I think I will spending tomorrow on the trainer inside. Clothes should be hear in a few weeks and the bikes are ordered. I can't wait for my new stuff. This is the best time of the year when you get all your new gear for the season. Thats all for today. Weak post but life is boring right now. More to come. Stay warm and train hard this weekend.

Those side Burns were sick!!!!
Oh Ya. I think we found a new rookie for my Little 5oo team.

New Seat!!!

People buy wierd stuff!!

So on Sunday I decided to sell all my old cycling clothes on eBay. I am getting a bunch of new clothes from the team soon and I needed some cash to buy the new IU clothing which should be here next week. I was looking over how my eBay stuff was doing today and was curios what kind of people would by a used skin suit. Well I found out the hard way. So I look at the highest bigger on my Pony Shop Cross skin suit.

I looked at his most recently won auctions and came across something I had never seen before or heard of. "Men’s Black Latex Tank Top, Size XS, Never Worn, High Quality" You know what that is? Let me show you.

There are some strange people out there for sure. I am scared to know how my skin suit is going to get used. I'm sure not for cycling. Any besides all this gross stuff, things are going well. I'm starting to get in a good schedule at school. Riding a bunch as always. Very brisk today so I think I will be doing my work out on the training this evening. We are hopefully getting our kits and bikes soon but you never know. That kind of stuff always takes forever. I just ordered some new race wheels which I am excited about. 2 sets of Reynolds. That’s all for me. Cheers.

The Art of Bonking!

Yesterday I bonked the worst time ever in my life. My stupidity lead to a horrible end of a 3 hour rider yesterday. After a night of drinking intil 4am and not eating to much in the morning (due to the hangover) Isaac and I went out for a 2 hour tempo ride. Everything was going great until the last 30min of the tempo portion of the ride. Our bodies started shutting down. It was a funny sight to see. For the last 45min of our ride I averaged a whopping 99 watts. I was shivering like mad. It was horrible.

You would think I would be smarter than that, but sometimes you make stupid mistakes. It is cold and nasty today so I am going to head to the gym and spin the legs out on the trainer. I spent this morning posting all my old cycling clothing on ebay. Hopefully I can get some cash from all that stuff and get some Sram red for my race bike. Will See. Leave you guys with a couple pics of my old bikes.

I hate School.................

I haven't posted in awhile due to my ridiculous schedule. I am taking 4 science classes which I am not thrilled about and I have 8am classes 4 days a week. Wednesday is my day to sleep in. I get a whopping one extra hour of sleep. Also not happy about having 3 classes on Friday either. Enough about college.

Training camp is over and done with. It was a blast, we did not get in the hours we wanted due to the wintery conditions. I am back on the bike training for good now. I did my LT test on Wednesday and was pretty pleased. My LT was very similar to my LT in June of last summer, which I am thrilled about because I have taken a lot of time off and have not done any intensity. Got a big weekend of riding ahead of me which should be a good break from school. I have almost finalized my racing schedule which starts at the end of February with some collegiate stuff. My roommates and I have decided we are going to try to head down the the dirty South and hit up Athens in April. We are not sure also about getting into Tour of Penn, but we are going to still try. Season is going to long and hard once again. Racing February through December. More and bigger races to come this season. I'm very excited. Leave you guys with a picture of our new bikes.

Training Camp Winding up

Haven't posted in the past few days unfortunately. We have all been busy doing training camp stuff. On Wednesday we decided due to the frigid temperatures that it would be worth while to go play some bball and do an hour cyclcross ride. I think I am still sore from the bball though. I would have to say that it must have been a funny sight seeing 5 skinny ass, shaved legged, high sock wearing punks attempting to play a game of pick up basketball.

Yesterday was another cold one so we waited until noon so the temperature would rise a little. We got bundled up and headed out for 2 hours. Many of the roads were still covered snow which made the ride interesting. Pam and I went and saw "I am Legend" last night. I was blown away. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Later that night we posted up on the couch and watched "Knocked Up" while drinking Guinness.

Woke this morning early so we could get in a hearty breakfast at Village Deli. Today's plan was 5 hours and it was surely accomplished. Total ride time was 5:20 and 85 miles. It was very windy and quite hilly. Tonight should be nice and relaxing. Tomorrow is our last day of camp and we plan on putting in around 6 hours. Forecast calls for 40 and rain, so we will see.

Snow Day

Woke up on the first of the year to a winter wonderland. My head was still fuzzy from all the PBR and whiskey. Last night was a blast, not one of the most wild New Years I have ever had, but it was still a blast. I was defiantly lame and hit the hay soon after midnight. We spent the morning sleeping in and drinking coffee. It was relaxing after a brutal 5 hour ride and drunken evening.

Today we decided not to hit the roads because of the snowy conditions. We decided it would be worthwhile to spin the legs out so we ventured out into the blizzard on cross/mountain bikes. It was a blast, I slammed the seat on my mountain bike and busted out some trials moves. I haven't done that stuff in years. It felt good to hop up some stairs and pull off some wicked skids in the snow.

After messing around on the bike I thought it would be fun to step it up and bust out some dough nuts in the new car. WOW! was that a blast. Could be one of my favorite things to do in the winter. Pam made us a wicked good pasta dinner which really hit the spot. Plan on watching a movie and talking racing schedules tonight. I am hoping for better weather tomorrow. I'm out.
